Leigh & Mark
Leigh & Mark
For Leigh Reagan Alley, the 4th-great-granddaughter of Maine folk hero Tall Barney Beal, tall tales are part of her family’s DNA! Raised in a Downeast lobstering village where storytelling tradition is alive and well, and trained to be a writer and educator in Maine universities that she still serves today, Leigh teaches children’s and young adult literature in the University of Maine System where she is an Assistant Professor of Education. Her lobstering husband and their two lobstering children are her three favorite people to share stories with.
Mark Nathan Hurry studied art and design at Newcastle College, earning himself a diploma before going to university where he received his bachelor's degree in illustration. Mark is a collector of children’s literature and has made picture books specially for his daughter who has sensory processing disorder. Residing in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, with his three beautiful girls, his wife, cat, and dog, it is life with them that inspires his work.
